We chose this accommodation for a short weekend stay, attracted by its excellent location just a five-minute walk from the town center. The building's exterior is quite charming, and the hosts were wonderfully accessible both in person and by phone, which we really appreciated. On the plus side, the bathroom was fairly clean and the bath towels were of good quality, which was a plus.
However, our experience had a few downsides. Our apartment was one of the older ones on the ground floor, and unfortunately, this made for a noisy environment with the sounds of other guests and doors slamming. This issue, combined with beds and pillows that were quite worn, affected our sleep quality more than expected. The amenities in the apartment, including the kitchen appliances, were functional but visibly aged. We were hesitant to use them extensively for cooking or laundry. The kettle, for instance, could do with some descaling. It was nice to see essentials like instant coffee, tea, and sugar provided, though we did miss having some milk. We also faced challenges with the WiFi, which was disappointingly weak throughout our stay. Considering the cost, which felt a bit high given the overall experience, there's certainly room for improvement in terms of value for money.

Luxurious Stay in a Stunning Historic Building My stay at Bagshaw Hall was absolutely wonderful. The historic building is stunning, and my room was nothing short of luxurious. The room was huge, and I loved the electric fireplace, which added a cozy touch. The kitchenette was well-equipped with a fridge, toaster, sink, and nice dishes for preparing meals. The shower pressure was the most amazing I’ve ever experienced - it was so strong! The rain shower was delightful and added to the luxurious feel of the room. There was ample cupboard space, a nice big cozy bed, and a lovely table for eating meals or working. The room itself was very beautiful and elegant. I truly loved staying at Bagshaw Hall and didn’t want to leave! The communal lounge area is also very nice, providing a comfortable space to relax. The location is perfect, just a short walk down to the village for all the shops. Bagshaw Hall is great accommodation for exploring Bakewell and the Peak District. I very much look forward to visiting again and staying at Bagshaw Hall.
Nothing! It was a perfect stay. I only wish I could have stayed longer.

Comfortable room with a small kitchenette with kettle, fridge and microwave which was great for self catering breakfast. Maybe we were lucky but our room had good wifi. It was an easy walk into and back from the main streets.
The bathroom was well appointed but very narrow so when using the toilet, your knees were almost touching the wall opposite. Luckily neither of us is tall. There was free parking but the spaces were quite tight and if you were not back to the hotel until late afternoon when the hotel was busy you would struggle to get parked. I was told there was another car park nearby but I’d no idea where it was.

The location and quirkiness really appealed to my 85 year old mother who loves local history. The two separate bedrooms and well equipped kitchenette were fantastic. The garden was a bonus as we had a family reunion with brothers and sisters for mum's birthday and my brother and sister in law were able to come and sit out in the garden in the evening which was lovely after having had a very damp day at Chatsworth.
It would have been useful to know that there was a beam between the bathroom and the bedrooms which was a tripping hazard, as my mother had originally planned to sleep in the main bedroom.

Location was perfect central to Bakewell walking distance to everything and room/suite was lovely probably one of the best we’ve had We ordered a cooked breakfast and a continental and they were brought to the room which was lovely would recommend but prefer a room away from the main boiler (see other notes)
Unfortunately our room (Vernon suite) was above the old boiler room was kept awake on both nights from 3am with it going on and off every few minutes

Located in a beautiful building very central to the town and facilities.
- The room was okay and was over priced for what it is. The smoke alarm is located directly over the bed and it is hard to sleep at night when you have light from the alarm shining directly on your face . The breakfast very expensive for a full English and they only serve between 8:30 - 9 am which is extremely early if you are holiday and want to have a lie in.

Excellent B'fast served on time with love and care by the staff
For one or other reason, Wi-Fi in the room was not working during whole of our stay so every time we have to go down to the lobby to use it. Also, every evening they put on the big halogen lights to light up the front facade but despite the curtains it used to put lot of light in our room creating sleeping discomfort

We booked last minute for a two night stay and were very pleased with our room. The staff were welcoming and friendly, available to help but unintrusive. The location and free parking was a bonus. We enjoyed a relaxing couple of nights and would definitely book to stay again.
The WiFi was pretty awful.

Beautiful hall and room, huge comfy bed.
Customer service was lacking and room wasn't 'serviced daily' as stated on your site. It was never cleaned during our 5 night stay. Our door signs to make up room or do not disturb were both ignored. Parking was also an issue.

Perfect location, friendly staff, clean rooms. Loved the fridge/freezer and microwave facilities. Would recommend
The large mat in our room was stained and a bit of a trip hazard, saw other rugs around the house that were curled at the edges, again trip hazards

The room was modern and convenient inside, with the lovely ambiance you would experience from a Class II listed building on the outside. We loved the location and the view, too.
The WiFi was a bit spotty, as you would expect with an older building.

Great location, central to Bakewell. Great little kitchen Nice to have separate rooms available
Would have been good to have another toilet available The check and check out is very impersonal, you have to call people.

Lovely Aunt Georgina who looked after us on our arrival. Very comfy bed . Quiet and ideal for us ?
The bed head or rather bottom part was easy to bump into in the night. Otherwise fine

Location and style of property. Ease of check in and departure.
Bed mattress in Devonshire suite needs to be replaced as it is worn out and uncomfortable. Rest of facilities were good.

Amazing location and a beautiful listed building. Also it had a free Tesla charging station which was very generous.
Rooms are a little small and creaky but that is part of the charm.

Location was excellent being only a short walk to the town centre. Tea and coffee supplies were generous
The shower in the bathroom wouldn’t remain fixed in one place.

Great location and very helpful staff.
Needed a long mirror in our suite and better blinds for early sunshine but otherwise beautiful property for a romantic getaway!

The location was excellent
The bathroom within the bedroom was not a good idea. It should have been completely closed off from the rest of the bedroom

Location was great just few minutes walk onto Bakewell
Low doorway into property caused us to bang heads on a few occasions
Vicky - 2024-05-26
Lovely old building with a homely feel
Slippery flagstones and rubbish and junk around the alleyway Too narrow a bathroom
