The location was great, expected road noise so this didn't bother us much. The exterior was nice and the hotel staff were helpful and friendly. The downstairs bar was very nice but we didn't get to try it out as they had an issue with card payments when we went in. But it seemed popular and had great decor. The room was a good enough size for a standard double. The room decor was nice with the historic building wallpaper. I'd consider staying again if the price was cheaper for what you get or an offer on an upgrade with better comfort. I was able to add an extra night prior due to train strikes the next day and I appreciated the ease of this as it was already stressful.
Unfortunately I didn't realise booking a standard double meant the bed would be so bad. The bed is one of the most important things during a hotel stay, I appreciate different people like different mattress but this mattress was so old it squeaked and echoed when you moved, we could feel the hexagonal metal springs jabbing into our side so the first night stay was terrible and not much sleep at all. I was quite upset as I could have stayed in a chain hotel with a much better bed for half the price. We did however ask reception for a mattress topper for the second night and the house keeping brought us a feather topper which some what helped disguise the springs a little better. It's worth also noting this is a small standard double bed so if you need more space, you would want to book a different room type. The shower was very small, I am small but this was a squash and the positioning of the shower head was very strange. The air con did not appear to work, we asked reception to turn it on for us but nothing seemed to come out and with it being a listed building you can't actually open the window to the outside only the inner PVC window. Which would be fine, except without the air con it was quite hot as we stayed in a bit of a heat wave. The room was a little tired looking and stains on the chair and carpets but overall it wasn't unclean just a little old.

The hotel was ideally situated for our needs being a short walk from our destination. There was a bar and restaurant within the hotel. However we used neither. The room was relatively quiet and the beds were comfortable. There appeared to be everything within the room that a visitor could need. Well stocked toiletries, tea/coffee makings, TV, hair dryer and even an iron and ironing board.
The bathroom was situated up a set of quite steep stairs. So every visit to the bathroom required climbing up and down each time. This was quite unnerving for an elderly couple especially at night when it was dark. It was a little disappointing to find that breakfast wasn't included in the price. It could be added if required at a cost of £15 per person if pre-booked or £17 per person for a walk-in. I would have thought at £85:50 per night breakfast would have been included. On principle we ate elsewhere.

Great location for central Newcastle, the staff were friendly & helpful. The breakfast was very nice & cooked to (my very specific) order, would recommend eating at the restaurant within the hotel, Leila Lily's (good value for residents). The White Company toiletries provided smelled divine. Due to the quirky conversion of this Georgian building, be aware that there will very likely be a few steps to navigate to get to your room.
A small thing but we had to phone reception to have the air con adjusted (rather than have 'in room' control to choose a temperature below 19), this was sorted within 30 mins, so for our second night the temperature was more suited to us.

It is all about location. Between te city centre and the Quayside this must be the perfect location in the city, Nice old building too. Breakfast is freshly made and good quality. Rooms are spacious with comfortable beds, small desk and a lounge chair.
There was quite a noice from outside. Probably a airco unit. The bathroom is spacious, but personally i do not like shower fitted in the bath. In this case the showerhead was fixed to the wall which made standing under it almost impossible

This is a perfect location for leisure and visiting Newcastle . It's a lovley boutique Hotel and very instagrammy ! The rooms are nice and have everything you need . The bar and breakfast areas are nice and the hotel has a good vibe . The staff were lovley all the girls from reception to the breakfast room were friendly. It's in the hub for nightlife and on a busy road but keep the windows closed and you're ok . We had breakfast which was good value .
Nothing really .

The location was very good. The staff were friendly. For what we needed it suited.
The room could have been cleaner. Dust on top shelf in wardrobe dust on reading lamp, dried up toothpaste on side of sink. Easily accessible cobweb in the bathroom. It just didn't feel clean considering nowadays the expense of staying anywhere. Also the price for breakfast!!! I would suggest don't bother. We didn't. Lots of great places to eat at far more reasonable prices.

Fantastic location on the greatest street in the city. Smooth check in and out, friendly staff, and good facilities in the room. A comfy bed and bath, warm room and a nice view too.
The teas and coffees weren't especially lovely or generous, and sound proofing with the corridor wasn't perfect. The historic building is grand and very characterful - but that's a bit lost with the decor. But these are just details.

We liked the central location of the property. The staff were very accomodating and friendly. The room was clean, and had everything you needed. We liked the lovely restaurant/bar downstairs- very handy.
The bed size could have possibly been larger, although it was a double room, so to be expected. Doors closing a little noisy at certain peak times, but again only to be expected really. We enjoyed our stay.

Room was furnished to a good standard, bathroom was OK with shower over bath. Coffee/tea available. Complimentary water. The room was rather dusty and towel rail could have been cleaned better but overall we enjoyed the stay. Lots of steps up and down to the bedroom might not suit some people. Excellent breakfast choice.
Slightly more attention to dust!

Room was clean and well presented and we were able to check in before 3pm!
Shower in bathroom wasn’t great and the grout could be refreshed. Television wasn’t a smart tv which isn’t terrible however we were limited as to what we could watch while in the room at night. Unable to cast to television either.

Check in was quick and the gentleman checking us in was excellent. Gave us directions on how to get where we needed to be that night. He went above and beyond, unfortunately I didn't get his name. Great location, comfy beds and would definitely return. Thank you.
There's wasn't anything I didn't like.

Beautiful old townhouse, 19th century. Lots of stairs though! Nice breakfast and good restaurant. Close to city center, but also close to lots of nightclubs and bars.
Lots of little steps everywhere. Busy and noisy environment. The bed was narrow, 1.40 m only!

The staff at reception were very kind and helpful. I didn't get the lady's name who was at the desk but she was very friendly and went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable and assist us as we had our 1 year old with us. Room was perfect.
No issues.

Really a top location in a beautiful building.Heart center so everything within walking distance. The breakfast is very good and extensive.
Maybe the hygiene, but that was mainly due to the floor covering that had a few things ago.

Great location for the city centre and for restaurants and bars
There are a few sets of steep steps to rooms and also inside our room. It was fine for us but if you have disabilities you will need to book an accessible room

Location is great. Rooms are very lovely.
Upon arrival, staff gave me a wrong room number so had to go downstairs again. Wifi was very choppy. Unfortunately no plugs by the bed to charge my phone.

Spacious room with large bathroom and a delicious breakfast menu.Super strong and yet in a beautiful central place in Newcastle
Small downside: A fixed shower head is not very handy.
Amy - 2024-05-28
Nicely decorated rooms. Clean. Excellent sound proofing given the very central location.
More shelving around sink in bathroom if I was very pedantic.
