Hilton Newcastle Gateshead

It was booked as a birthday present as were attending a venue nearby, so decided the Hilton was closest within walking distance. We entered our room to find a bottle of prosecco chilling and truffles. Little touches like this is thoughtful and adds to perfect evening. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice of hot and cold food and drinks. Staff were attentive on all departments.

The bed was a little firm so I didn't het a full sleep. No fault of the hotel, I just prefer a really soft mattress.

We had asked for interconnecting rooms and had confirmation prior to arriving thaf these had been allocated. However, on arrival we were told that our two rooms were on separate floors. We weren’t happy as we wanted our family to be together. The staff ended up managing to get two rooms on the same floor but on opposite sides of the corridor. This was ok but not ideal for celebrating my 50th birthday.

Room was exactly as expected, great view. Very quiet.

No plug sockets next to bed, would have been handy for charging the phones etc. Was charged a £20 fee to check in early, but seeing as there was a suitable room cleaned and available I really can't see the justification for this, as me checking in early would not have put the hotel out one bit. Profiteering is the only answer.

Staff were superb - from check in staff, restaurant staff, check out staff and head of housekeeping (who found my earpods I had left in the room) - Fabulous team!

I was still full from my evening meal so couldn't maximise on the delicious breakfast! There was nothing to not like - would definitely book here again

Beautiful scenery of the bridge, really well laid out. The pool was great and sauna was beautiful, shame the steam room was off. It does need fixing though as I heard that it has been weeks! Hot tub could have been warmer too.

Bit of a hilly walk into Newcastle, would struggle for older people.

I booked it for the pool for our child. The reception area is lovely with a great view of the quayside. Beds very comfy, curtains were great to block out the light

There is a steep walk up to the hotel from the city side. There was no hairdryer in the room. Rooms are basic for the price

Big hotel, great location. Smells good. Receptionist (Lizzie) gave us a super welcome and was very knowledgeable on local attractions.

Breakfast was a little chaotic but still good. I think the need to preorder parts of your breakfast is unnecessary and confuses people.

The bar and restaurant were clean and the staff were very attentive

The room was a bit dated and there was a picture missing off the wall and there was a patched up part of the wall also. The bathroom wasn’t very well lit to do makeup and there was no shaving mirror.

Good location and a car park with electric car chargers. Pleasant and helpful staff. Sizeable room.

Not the most comfortable bedding - stiff mattresses and pillows. Cleanliness wasn't the best either - found used napkins under the bed, and aircon unit was dusty.

Everything!, I really enjoyed my stay here, staff made is so comfortable from the second we walked in the doors, to the minute we left. The room was absolutely beautiful with an amazing view. We used the spa and had breakfast in the morning…..fantastic!

Excellent breakfast. The staff were all very helpful.

There was no lock on the bathroom door. I would have preferred to have had a lock, but this was just a very minor inconvenience. Otherwise everything was great. Thank you.

The family rooms and bathrooms in the bar need a stool for children to reach taps for washing hands. That's the only thing missing:-)

The prices for food and drinks, the location of the hotel and the rooms could be more modern
