Holiday Inn Express Newport, An IHG Hotel

The staff were great and very helpful. The food was really good.

On the 2nd night, young children were running up and down the ground floor corridor outside our room (Room 26) at 11.30pm. This set off the large dog in an adjacent room, which then barked continuously (and with a large deep-throated bark), for the next 25 minutes. After 15 minutes of the dog barking, I dialled 0 on the room telephone and spoke to the person on Reception, who had already been told about it by someone else - but couldn't find out where it was. I told him it was in an adjacent room to ours - and after several minutes he brought a key and opened the door. He immediately closed it again after seeing the size of the dog - as well as seeing that it was alone in the room. He then went away again - presumably to locate (elsewhere in the hotel) a member of the family who owned the dog. She then came (after several more minutes) and took the dog off to another room (presumably). So after about 50 minutes of continuous barking from the adjacent room, we were then able to get off to sleep again. I mentioned it to the main guy at the Reception desk (who had just come on duty that morning) who confirmed that he was made aware of what had happened during the night - and expressed his concern that the hotel had changed its previous policy - NOT to allow dogs into the rooms.

Good enough for a short stay but totally in the wrong place for the purpose of our visit. I thought that I had booked the Holiday Inn near the conference centre. Instead we only stayed for two of the three that I booked . How this happened I can only think that it was an unexplained booking error by Booking.com. We were not the only people lodged Eight miles from we had expected to be.

Nothing but it’s position

The Holiday Inn Express near the M4 in Newport may not offer anything extraordinary, being a typical Express Hotel. The reception is friendly and the bedrooms are clean. However, the evening meal menu is basic and slightly overpriced for the quality, while breakfast seems to use low-quality produce. It's a decent stopover option at a reasonable price, but don't anticipate anything exceptional.

It didn’t bother me on this visit as I was alone and had little to hang but there wasn’t much room to store clothes. This was an accessible room so may have been different in standard rooms.

The staff were amazing they helped us with a problem that was their fault

On arrival we were told that we were not booked in and could only offer us a twin room..I was ofcourse happy about this it coursed alot of disruption . I've been booking with ur company for many years and was totally surprised at the lack of communication..so I won't be booking with u again...

Excellent staff, friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and tidy with everything I needed. Comfortable, it was quiet and great for a good night's sleep. Fair value. As a Coeliac I advised the hotel and there was a good selection for breakfast, but I think they cater for gluten free and Coeliac's anyway.

There was nothing I didn't like.

Staff are amazing. So friendly and helpful, I would return purely on that. Hotel is spotless and perfect for my visit due to my car being booked in the dealership across the road. That was the reason I initially booked but my number one choice when I have to return to the area. Highly recommend!!!

Nothing - great place?

The hotel is in a very good condition, clean, outside the city, in a logistics center area, with several office buildings around and with a chic bar / restaurant next door - The Dragonfly. Parking is included, free of charge. Breakfast like any other Holiday Inn Express in Great Britain - basic, but ok.

Room was clean ,bed was very comfy. A hairdryer & iron plus ironing board was provided. Air conditioning & good size shower,

No bottled water or biscuits provided which would have been nice. Prefer coffee to be served rather than self service at breakfast

Beautiful location off the main road surrounded by trees with parking. Hotel looks clean, modern and welcoming. Beautiful buffet breakfast and at the heart of it the staff who make all of this happen.

Noise from the corridors of kids crying and running around the passages all the days of our stay. The rooms were dusty I guess you need a deep clean wash of carpets regularly

I was a solo traveller and appreciated being located on top floor

The shower basin didn't drain, I couldn't have anymore than a 3 min shower as water was leaking out the unit itself.

The staff was extremely nice and friendly. We had travel difficulties and they were so helpful and understanding. Location is good

Exceptional welcome from staff after our journey through thunder and lightening followed by huge hailstones. So glad to reach our lovely comfortable room.
