Apartment 1 - Khyber Lodge Apartments

Clean, nicely presented, good sea views, close to the town centre in an area of Whitby which had all the amenities we needed. Good heating system (when we found it!). The local authority's car parking scheme works well, but more comments on that below.

We arrived Sat. afternoon - nearest car parking was 10 minute walk away. Toilet flush kept sticking open. Not a good range of pans for cooking, none with fitting lids. Bedroom tv didn't work. "Heating thermostat is in the hall" .... it wasn't (found it in the kitchen). This was our first experience of Host and Stay agency - never seen such a big damage bond required. Superhog (the administrators of the bond) caused problems which took me ages to resolve (their fault!). A lot of the email info which H & S sent us was irrelevant to our booking. It was not a good pre-holiday experience .... but staff to whom I spoke on the phone were pleasant, helpful, keen to resolve issues.

We loved the quirky layout of this property, and enjoyed having access to the Courtyard for a last drink in the evening, or a morning brew. The property was clean and the beds were comfortable. Great communication from the host throughout, and we felt we would have been able to easily reach them had we had any concerns. Easy walking distance to the centre of Whitby, too, although the surrounding roads are very steep, so this would need to be taken into consideration if you did struggle at all with walking.

My only issue was to do with access - I found it impossible to navigate to this area in my car, despite having the sat nav.....but, that's definitely a me issue rather than a property issue. I'm sure if I'd paid more attention to the road layouts before setting off, then I would have been able to work it out!

Myself and one friend came for a weekend away. I really enjoyed having our own bathroom and our own space for showers etc The apartment is very nearly there in terms of what you would expect. It had everything we need for a Two night stay and the hosts communicated well throughout the whole process. The apartment was clean and tidy up on arrival.

I'm quite an easy sleeper. I could normally fall asleep anywhere and everywhere. Unfortunately, the bed in the double bedroom is very uncomfortable. The Sleep was very broken due to this, especially on the second night. I personally couldn't sleep in it if I was staying for a longer period of time. The two single beds in the second bedroom was apparently OK. Not the worst,not the best.

Great location. Easy walking to the sea front and the town. These apartments are close to a grassy area for the dog. Equipped with everything we might need. Comfortable seating in the lounge area.

We knew this was a small apartment and it was big enough for us. However the shower room is very small and could be an issue for some people. The bed was fine but very creaky. Our only real niggle was that the plumbing soil pipe from upstairs runs down the back of the wardrobe and this was noisy once the guests upstairs were on the move.

Great location. Bigger than expected. Clean and tidy. Comfortable beds. Lovely bathrooms great downstairs shower. Outside space a bonus. Pet friendly. Owner easily contacted.

A suggestion, , the owner could consider removing the breakfast bar and pop another sofa on that wall so more room for families to sit. You can also watch TV better. A table in the space to the right of the door leading into the garden easily fit a small 4 seater dining table.

Loved the location, the bed was extremely comfortable. With great views (if it wasn't for the scaffolding next door ? - obviously beyond anyones control, didnt spoil anything) everything was very clean.

The only mirror in the bedroom was on the wall quite high up! I'm 5ft 4 and could only see the the very top of my head without standing on tiptoes. There was another full length mirror in the hall......but no plug/electricity point in there

The location was really good and views of the sea from the living room window. Had everything that we needed. Plenty of parking outside on the street. Easy access to town and surrounding area for walks and shopping.

Found it difficult when entering the property as there was not much room to turn in the hallway, so had to open bathroom door, then my husband could get in before locking the door.

The apartment was clean and spacious. The adult double bedroom is on ground floor whilst rest of apartment is in basement which was perfect with 2 chatty teens. The facilities gave us the opportunity to comfortably cook and eat at home. It is positioned just off Khyber Pass which was central to everything that we needed. The owner was pleasant and welcoming. We would definitely go again.

Parking behind the apartment was very handy . The apartment itself was wonderful! Very clean , very comfortable! Very well equipped!

The only thing that could be made better would be the little outside space. It could be made really nice . but having our dogs it was great to have this outside area!

Very clean and warm with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits on arrival. Near sea view. Comfortable beds and sofa. Spotless kitchen. Was delightful stay.

Only problem was not being able to park near the accommodation but the car park at the back of the property was adequate and fairly priced.

This is the second time we have stayed here. The location is great really close to the whale bones and easy access to the centre. The apartment was super clean and comfortable There was a cooker fridge washer and all kitchen utensils Thank you

Complete for the suitcases if you arrive in Whitby in the morning (check -in at 4 p.m.) and if you go well after the check -out.It would be necessary to provide a place not to drag down suitcases during your stay.

The apartment is in a good location, up a hill but we didn’t mind. Apartment large enough. Clean, everything you need for a stay in Whitby. Parking nearby. Communication from host was excellent.

The twin room has a smell of damp.

Everything was amazing from the actual apartment to the location as its not far at all from the beech or town. The owner was amazing and friendly he helped us out wanting to stay another night

Location was perfect Apartment was clean and well furnished, had everything we needed.

The double bed mattress was a little bit uncomfortable and there was some noise from other apartments at night but not bad.

There is a bad odour of damp in the entrance hall. only 1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom. lounge has a poor layout as you cannot watch tv.

2nd en-suite a tad small but workable for a short stay (for a 6' 4" person...)

I did need help but called the host and was sorted in minutes

More sofas would have been a bonus but wasn’t an issue
