The Lion Hotel

The staff were very friendly, always at your service when we needed something. The breakfast was a small selection from a menu, and was very good. We had dinner one evening which was excellent and probably one of the best during our stay. The room was clean and adequate.

The towel radiators didn't work in the original room we were shown. And nor did it work in the second room we settled in. Despite being told they would have it working by the second night, they still didn't work by the time we checked out. As this place doubles-up as locals pub, it can get quite noisy/busy especially on a Friday or Saturday night.

Friendly welcome. Clean and well maintained. Everything worked as it should. Fantastic breakfast! I decided to blow my full-fat and cholesterol allowance for this year on the Full Welsh breakfast - but it was worth it!

My only very minor critism would be the use of standard catering packs of sauces and condiments. They really don't do the superb breakfast ingredients or their preparation and presentstion any justice! This would be a perfect opportunity to showcase locally produced "artisan" type jams, preserves, chutneys and sauces etc. ?

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Varieties of option for the breakfast and yummy. Spa facilities were really nice. Love the vibe of the pub. We would love to go back and also, recommend everyone who would like to visit blaenovon.

It would be nice if there was shower in family room. Also, there was no dinner available on Sunday evening at the restaurant as we were looking forward to spend evening at the restaurants.

Everything was very good, but perhaps larger cups (mugs) for morning coffee?

Not a lot.

We were put in the attic accommodation which is not user friendly when you are tall. The bed settee was uncomfortable. The only way to make refreshments was on your hands and knees because of the very low ceilings. Lighting not good in the main room. Toilet situated under the ceiling beam so a lot of head bumps.

The inside of this hotel is amazing. Beautiful rooms with beautiful extras, food was so good and tasty and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Parking was really easy and the ambience and comfort was relaxing and great. Will definitely be staying here again.

Great breakfasts. Dinners were also excellent and staff able to accommodate gluten-free diets.

The were some minor problems with the room – a light that didn’t work and couldn’t be fixed it being a Bank Holiday – but generally staff were helpful and accommodating.

The food was fabulous. Absolutely delicious, compliments to the chef. Lucinda was lovely, very helpful and polite.

The room was really small for 3 adults, the beds were not overly comfortable, and there wasn't a proper shower, just a hose over a tub.

Lovely food, friendly staff, carpark, health suite, lovely powerful shower,soft fluffy towels and bathrobes.

Noise from other rooms, could hear every word said through the walls. Health suite was lovely but sauna wasn't working.

Beautiful large twin beds. The room was small because if the large bathroom. Nice pub. Good food.

The bathroom was beautiful, but why put a free standing huge bathtub? So not practical.

Really friendly staff and great food. Great beers on tap. 5min drive to the Big Pit.

Shame they don’t serve food on a Sunday night as it was delicious when we ate the following night.

Beds were quite comfortable.

I don’t understand how the hotel can have 4 stars. No late check-in available, no in room service, not even the telephone in the room.

We arrived late but were still welcomed and we were able to enjoy the ad.The room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast delicious.

Great location only 10 min drive to our granddaughter .

Cheese board wasnt good only 1 piece of cheese and 2 crackers not what we would call a cheese board

Steam room and sauna was a nice touch after riding bike park wales ? decent full welsh brekky too!

Help, dear eyes, we ate divine dinner, and breakfast was also crazy and delicious.

There was no dive pool for the sauna.
