The Manners Pub With Rooms

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Extremely well stocked tea/coffee station in the room with brownies, chocolate snack bars, chocolates, biscuits. Bed was comfortable. Room was a little warm as the heating was on but the radiator had a thermostat and you could open the window.

Car parking was an issue. Not many spaces and guests of the Peacock were allowed to park in the Manners car park because they were paying for breakfast didn’t help. Breakfast. I asked for coffee & hot chocolate. We got apple juice, tea & coffee. The coffee was awful. The full English breakfast was nice, the poached eggs were perfectly cooked but the brioche toast was not brioche, and actually all the toast which was served was burnt and cold. So for £12.50 per head, it was disappointing.

We received a friendly welcome from Emma and Libby, and were shown straight to our room, which was spotlessly clean and of a good size. Libby asked if we wanted the heating on, (we did) and then she left us to settle in. Although an old pub, the room was bright and clean, with a modern bathroom. I have to mention the goodie tray which contained the usual coffee and tea sachets, but also water, squash, hot chocolate, sweets and more. Having mentioned that we were on a family history break, we were kindly given some information on the pub. Nothing was too much trouble for the team.

There's very little I didn't like. The bed felt slightly on the small side, but probably only because we have a larger bed at home.

The room was lovely, warm and comfortable. Plenty of tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc. The laundry was so clean and fresh. Location was great. Not far from The Monsal Trail for a lovely walk/easy bike ride. The food was really tasty and plentiful. Good selection of beers etc. The staff were all amazing, friendly and very hard working to make your stay even better. Nothing was too much trouble. Special mention to Libby. She is lovely. Took time to come sit down and have a chat with us. She even made a new little friend in our dog Izzy, who incidentally loved it that much, we had trouble getting her into the car to come home(the dog that is) ?. Well done everyone. Definately be seeing us again??xx

The hotel and pub itself is beautiful, well decorated and a great central location. The room was spacious and well looked after. The staff really make it though, they were so lovely. Lots of goodies left in the room to fuel our day of walking, incredible breakfast included. We also ate in their restaurant and the food was phenomenal. It was my husbands birthday which I mentioned at booking and at dinner they had a helium balloon, card from the team and giant chocolate bar out for him. Really lovely touches, can't recommend enough.

Friendly staff (Emma and others). Great tray of tea, coffee, biscuits, sweets etc. in the room. Room clean and tidy. Good cooked breakfast (although see other section!) . Good menu choice for dinner especially GF options.

Minor gripes with breakfast. Although the cooked breakfast was excellent, there was no GF toast offered, or other toast and marmalade etc. No cereals either. Also, no-one asked us if we needed more tea/coffee etc. I know these are minor gripes but would make the difference between very good and excellent !

The pub is conveniently located within Bakewell, and one of the few hotels with parking. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Specifically allowing us to park before check in. The room was very comfortable, with lots of tea and snacks provided. Downstairs the pub is cosy, friendly and they pull an excellent pint of Guinness. The breakfast was also lovely. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

Room very clean, bed was very comfortable. Provided with loads of drinks and snacks to accommodate us. Staff were brilliant, may have needed a late check in but the staff were full accommodating and wasn’t an issue.

Bathroom slightly outdated but perfectly functional. View out the window was straight into another window but can do much about how the building is build so only a small gripe.

We had a lovely stay at The Manners . The owners were so accommodating, very friendly and genuinely caring and considerate . There were lots of lovely extras in the bedroom including chocolate, biscuits, sweets and water. The bed was extremely comfortable and breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay here again Thank you ?

Room was lovely. Bed and bedding was so comfortable and smelt amazing. Best nights sleep for ages. Dog welcome packs were a lovely touch and we felt very at ease travelling with our dogs. Was a very well equipped room with lovely extra touches. Good attention to detail. Was really quiet being as we were over a pub

Car Parking can be difficult because of Camper Vans and Staff cars, so I got there early. Shame Breakfast is not included. Also no notification of how much it is if you want it. Is it the same price for the Full Breakfast or Poached Egg on Toast ?

Excellent breakfast. Good choice on menu Excellent food,and good portions.Room ,bed and bathroom clean and comfortable.Carpets and some furniture could do with a bit of TLC.Wellcome pack in room was lovely.Would definitely stay there again.

The decor in room and corridor were a little dark.

Friendly family run pub with rooms. Relaxed atmosphere. Food was pretty good - I had the chicken tikka hanging kebab which was lovely.

The overuse of some sort of room freshener/pillow spray. The smell was overwhelming and, as I am asthmatic, it made sleeping and breathing difficult.

The treats in the room especially for the dog. They are very dog friendly. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Food - breakfast and lunch both excellent and very reasonable prices for both food and drink. We are definitely going to stay there again.

Could not fault anything

The room is spacious, the room is complete, and the basic needs are met. It also provides rich snack foods.It's early and allow it to stay in advance.It is very close to the center of the town. It is convenient to take bus 218 and 170 to Daxi Manor.

The bed is too soft.

Breakfast was fab. The extras in the bedroom I.e. choc, sweets, biscuits etc never had so many extras in a hotel room. It was brilliant. The management and staff. Soooo friendly

The decoration was a bit tired. A shower instead of a bath would be so much better.

Beautiful building with many original features. Welcoming host Emma and crew were so lovely and the food was delicious. It was my birthday and was made to feel very special. If ever back ‘up north’ that’s the place for us!

Breakfast excellent, served nicely. One of us had full English and other poached eggs on brioche. Both very tasty. A big pot of tea for me and good size cafetière of coffee him.

Friendly greeting, clean spacious room, good shower, very comfortable bed, excellent coffee/tea facilities in the room, good parking. We will try to get a room here next time we venture up to Bakewell.

The staff and landlords were so friendly and welcoming and the room was clean and cozy, well stocked with teas and treats. It was conveniently located and within walking distance of everything in town.

It was an extremely friendly place for humans and dogs, the bed was very comfy. Our dog was really spoilt, we would definitely stay again.

Decor needs attention outside of room

Everything - the level of amenities, all the little extras, the friendliness, the comfort of the bed, great shower, fabulous breakfast, parking. Could not fault it.

Beds were too soft and uncomfortable. Noisy extractor fan from kitchen and awoken at 6am by kitchen staff.

Loved our stay. We came with our dog who was treated like royalty. The staff were all lovely and friendly and loved the Dog themed room.

We stayed in March and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially for our dog. We will definitely be coming back!
