Gorgeous ambience and decor. Loved the glass of bubbly on arrival.
The bed was comfortable but my partner is 6'4" so the enclosed bed end did not work for him. I liked that you provided a non-slip bathmat as it was needed. I found the breakfast a bit rushed. I was sitting reading (there were others having the full English breakfast at other tables) just grazing on my yogurt etc when there was a push to clear my place. I pushed back (which is most unlike me) and the waitress then offered me pastries and in the end it was ok - but I would say people are on holidays be a bit more relaxed :) It was unfortunate that there was a "Buck's" party on that night as they were loud in the bar and restaurant but that was not the fault of the management. They did accommodate us and move us from the restaurant to a quiet corner of the bar and we moved again when the party moved to the bar. As this was a five-year catchup with relatives for one night only (we are Australian and had driven specifically to Newport to see them) we were after a quiet place.

Our third stay at the Priory, this time in one of the cottage rooms. How wonderful to have your own little semiprivate garden! As always, the decor was beautiful and tasteful. Lovely to have a robe to relax in, and the roll top bath is always my favourite treat of the stay. Staff were as ever, so friendly and helpful. Evening meal was simply stunning, worthy of a Michelin star or two! If you stay here, you really must dine here also. All of my requests were met and we even sat outside until sunset with a few cocktails. Had a lazy late check out at 1pm for a bargain £20. Couldn’t fault a thing.
What’s not to like? Other than I can’t afford to live there permanently!

Very clean, quiet surroundings, unusual building (ex Monastery). Nice restaurant facilities, with excellent fresh food and a good choice of menu. The staff were very courteous and polite. The garden was a highlight, which was very nice to spend a relaxing afternoon. The fresh cooked breakfasts were excellent. The bed was very comfortable.
The bedroom was smaller than i was expecting, there was limited storage for clothing. We stayed during a hot weekend and there was no air-con. A fan was provided, which was better than nothing at all. The coffee machine in the room did not work properly, and there was no fridge to keep drinks cold.

Lovely atmosphere, helpful staff, fascinating building beautifully laid out and equipped. Service and food (breakfast) good. Thoughtful details and very high standard of furnishing, amenities and comfort in bedroom and bathroom. Everything working perfectly and very clean. Would have loved to stay longer and now I know where it is I must find a reason to go back for a leisure stay.
Rather a lot of steps for me (mobility problem) and no lift, otherwise would have been maximum stars. Very helpful staff offered immediate assistance.

When we arrived we found that we had been given a complimentary upgrade to the room we had booked. We have stayed at the Priory several times as it is very convenient for visiting family and all the rooms have been comfortable but this was exceptional, large airy, on the ground floor, our own garden and spacious on suite with bath and walk in shower. we wished we had been staying more than one night! Breakfast was delicious and well presented. All the staff we met were helpful and welcoming.

Gorgeous gardens, quiet bedroom, very attentive Thai lady serving at breakfast who was lovely. Excellent, innovative choices for breakfast as well as traditional full English. Hotel very handy for Roman Museum and other remains in Caerleon.
Evening restaurant set up trying to be 'high end,' (food was lovely), but effect totally spoilt by loud pop music with heavy bass which remained intrusive even after I asked if it could be turned down so we could converse more easily!

We have been here half a dozen times now and stayed in the cottages. Always loved it and will definitely be back. Love the air conditioning in the rooms and the sun was out so enjoyed sitting out the front in its own garden
We have always enjoyed the food, but the options on the menu this time around were not very good in our opinion. We also thought the bar area seemed a bit too dark.

We have been before and knew what to expect The Hotel is a lovely place to stay near to where we wanted to be
A lot of confusion in the dining room with staff not carrying out requests or getting mixed up with orders Hence the restaurant was not as full as usual Needs a person to check if all is OK Breakfast excellent but 1 young lady doing all the waiting on her own (Full restaurant)

This is a really special hotel in Caerleon. The lovely old priory has been beautifully restored, the rooms are gorgeous and there is completmentary tea, coffee, herbal teas and both still and sparkling water. The restaurant is outstanding and the staff were professional and friendly. We even had a free glass of Cava on arrival - a welcome treat!
Nothing

The room was lovely and the whole building. The breakfast was great. It was very central.
We should have been told on checking in that we needed to register our car, as we will now be receiving a £100 parking fine which we will have to contest, as we didn't see the notice in the car park. A large notice at reception would be useful.

We loved the setting of the property. Being able to walk out to the lovely village and have green space and a river nearby.
The room was quite hot at night and we couldn’t open the window as the room faced the main road. There was a fan in the room but I’m not sure much difference this would have made

The staff were friendly. Nice setting and nicely decorated room. Comfortable bed.
Shower did not work at all for duration of stay and was unable to be fixed. Wooden floor in room had a very greasy / incredibly slippery feel - not sure if it was the products used but it gave a horrible feeling to the room.

The cocktails were excellent, the staff were friendly and the room was beautiful. The barman Davy was very friendly and made the best drinks.
The fishy smell from the restaurant was very strong throughout the main facility. Room didn’t have coffee available.

Loved the room, which opened onto the garden. Really nice detail, like the welcome drink, the teas, coffee, waters etc. The garden was relaxing, interesting trees and birds too.
The bed and settee had so many crevices for dust, but minor criticism.

The location and the room was perfect. We were there for the night of our wedding and it was a dream. The garden is also perfectly secluded and relaxing and lovely for a dink or food.
No amenities in the bathroom like cotton wool buds etc

Beautiful garden, very friendly and helpful staff. Great food - dinner & breakfast, super quality and service.
If being very picky, shower cubicle was a little small, but overall bathroom squeaky clean with lovely accessories.

The hotel and grounds were stunning and it was so lovely to sit outside in the gardens. Lovely rooms & food was great.
Bed was a little smaller than what we are used to & the bath was a bit slippery for a shower.

Wonderful base to explore the roman ruins. Lovely beer garden. Staff were very friendly.
Rules around what you could eat where and when were a bit complicated.

The cottage room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was huge and had both a very nice shower and a full size tub that were independent of each other.

Rooms were large
The gate at the front was locked 15 mins early, so we had quite a walk around the back to get in
