The hotel has its own Coffee House serving a variety of coffees and specialist teas for all tastes. If you would prefer something different then the hotels bar offers a selection of gins, whiskeys, ales and so much more. Depending on the weather there is a small outside terraced area for guests to enjoy the local atmosphere.

The Rutland Hotel’s bar, sitting and dining areas are excellent as were the staff - and breakfast was exceptional!
We were travelling with two small dogs and after booking a beautiful room in the hotel we were informed they were not ‘dog friendly’. The lady I spoke to was lovely and managed to switch us into a dog friendly room - and presumably the occupants benefitted from an upgrade to ours. The ‘dog friendly’ room was not in the hotel but the other side of the carpark and as we climbed the stairs it got hotter and hotter! The room and bathroom were tiny with only a small fan for cooling so we were forced to keep windows open all night. The hotel is on a busy roundabout and the annexe was very noisy with cars zooming past all night. It wasn’t a room for relaxing before dinner - nowhere for us both to sit comfortably and very hot! We were grateful to be allowed to switch but had no idea the extent of the downgrade- we paid for a 4* hotel room but ended up in a 2*! Nowadays we’d also expect at least a basic vanity pack - earbuds etc which seems standard in a highly rated hotel but there was nothing. Our only other gripe was parking. We were sent a link to council car parks on the basis that the hotel carpark was limited. I paid £46 via the link sent via Booking.com, there was no such carpark and we parked easily near our room in the hotel carpark.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly - including the cleaning staff, the receptionists, the bar staff, the restaurant staff and the chef who chatted to us too. The location of the hotel was excellent and very central with easy access to bus stops. The rooms we stayed in were lovely and situated on the second floor of the main hotel building. There is no lift (being an historic building) so a member of staff kindly arranged for our luggage to be taken to our rooms.
Parking may be a problem, and there is a small free hotel car-park. There other car-parks a short walk from the hotel but these incur an overnight charge. We were advised by e-mail of the parking facilities before our stay. Once we arrived at the hotel we were able to park the car in the hotel car-park for our 5 night stay. We decided to leave the car parked and use the bus or reasonably priced taxi services to get to the various places that we wanted to visit during our stay. Therefore, it was not a problem for us but I can appreciate this may be a concern for other guests staying at the hotel.

Everything about the Rutland Arms was perfect. The town centre location was excellent, made even better by being able to get a car parking space in the hotel car park. Our room was located in a separate block from the main hotel. It was slightly on the small side, but was beautifully decorated and had everything you could possibly need. It was nice and quiet too. The hotel itself is really lovely, lots of sitting areas if you just fancy a drink and the restaurant where we ate all 3 nights of our stay was excellent. The food was delicious and the staff all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.
There was nothing to dislike.

The hotel itself is lovely and includes a cafe, bar and restaurant. Right in the heart of Bakewell so perfect if you just want to step out of your hotel for a stroll or dinner in the evening. We ate at the restaurant one night and the food was delicious so highly recommend.
While it was noted the room was small, it was VERY small so lucky we were not staying for many nights. Also the breakfast was good in terms of choice however it must have been a different chef in the morning as the quality of the food was not so good. There is also limited parking for the hotel on a first come, first save basis which can make parking near by difficult.

Huge room! Free parking a bonus. Great idea of dining for free on your birthday! Superb meal. Great Central location. Spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was a little disjointed on the first day due to lack of staff. Served the coffee and tea but no cups or milk. Table wasn't set. Waitress asked what we wanted to order but hadn't been given a menu. Had no idea there was a buffet counter as this was in the main eatery and as we had our dog with us we where sat jn the coffee shop. Asked for toast with our breakfast it never came.

Stayed in rooms in the courtyard part of the hotel across the road from the main building.A small double and a single which were immaculately clean.Very comfortable beds. The towels were lovely and soft and the toiletries were great. Some nice touches having a coffee machine plus biscuits provided.Good breakfast with friendly staff.Overall a great stay in this hotel.
Parking at this hotel is limited but you can park overnight in nearby public carparks.

Outstanding staff and a lovely location.
The only issues are parking and a lack of lift - neither of which they can do anything about, given the age and location of the building. And it is the age and location which serve to make this such a great hotel. Alongside the staff, who are really exceptional: from management to housekeeping, bar and restaurant.

We really liked dinner and also the offer of breakfast.Furnishing and style of the structure are very original. The staff and the staff are very friendly and prepared.Good experience.
The rooms are perhaps too full of objects that collect dust, this is not ideal for those like me who are allergic to dust mites. However, overall the rooms are clean.

It was very plush. Made to feel very welcome
On leaving spotted a notice saying come have free dinner if it’s your birthday which we had just paid for even though I’d told you it was wife’s birthday. Also paid in full I was told at reception night before so was surprised to be charged another amount on leaving

Facilities were excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food and service very good indeed.. Could not fault our visit . A hotel you most definitely want to come back too.
The Stairs. No lift. But you can ask for help to get your luggage to your room. Which they are very willing to help with.

Comfy beds. Beautiful dining room and bar area.
Poor service. Towels not changed, rooms not cleaned after first night of stay. When we complained there was a long delay before we got fresh towels but the room was still not cleaned. Reception frequently unmanned and difficult to find help.

Breakfast was great, lots of options and the food was delicious. The staff were fantastic. Perfect location for exploring the area and Bakewell is a lovely place.
Parking was a bit of an issue, extremely limited, so not an ideal hotel for people with mobility issues.

Lovely hotel, right in the centre. Well appointed rooms. Spotlessly clean. Lovely decoration of rooms. Gorgeous dining room. Someone has really put a lot of time and effort into styling it. Lovely breakfast. Great value. Would definitely stay again.
Nothing!

Breakfast freshly cooked and there was a good selection of Pastries etc also. Room was compact but comfortable. The bed was large and I slept really well both nights.
Ventilation in the bathroom could be improved as walls got very wet when using the shower.

Beautiful place. Very characteristic. Adorable room, lovely details. Very well looked after.
Slightly noisy above the road, so sleep with earplugs or windows closed. But I did like the hub of the streets and shops. And cafes. With earplugs it is fine.

The location was great and the cafe bar was great.
The room was unbelievably hot and we had a smashed tv in the bedroom. We raised this wirh the staff but it wasn't replaced.
